New home set down just before lockdown (with video)

Just before New Zealand was thrust into another Alert Level 4 Lockdown due to the Covid-19 Delta variant reaching our shores, we delivered Geoff and Gaylyn’s new home.

For the first time since April 2020, New Zealand was put into an Alert Level 4 Lockdown in August 2021 when the Covid-19 Delta variant was detected in the community. In New Zealand, this means that all non-essential workers must remain at home. Schools and other educational facilities are closed as are public parks, playgrounds, and retail stores. Items from supermarkets and pharmacies can be purchased, but shopping is restricted to one person per household.

While our team feels that building much-needed new homes is extremely essential, we were not able to operate at Alert Level 4 with the exception of our office staff who could work from home.

This meant that the team in the yard had to down tools and stay home, which would also mean new home deliveries would need to be cancelled.

Luckily, Geoff and Gaylyn Travis’s new home was scheduled for delivery just before Lockdown was announced, and their custom home arrived in Waikete Valley, just south of Rotorua in the nick of time. Fancy getting a new home for lockdown!

The Travis’s home is a great example of Exeter Homes’ ability to work with our clients to build the transportable house of their dreams. With a spa bath, feature walls, and gabled roof, this home ticked all of their boxes.

Take a look at this short slideshow of images from the move. Congratulations Geoff and Gaylyn, we hope you are loving your new Exeter transportable home.
