The Exeter Executive Range: High End Transportable Homes for Discerning Families

Overview

Families who come to us at the top end of the budget usually arrive with a clear brief. They want a home that looks and feels exceptional, has room for everyone, and works as hard on a busy Tuesday morning as it does at a weekend gathering. What they do not want is the cost blowouts and two year timeline that so often come with a custom build on site.

The Exeter Executive range was created for exactly that brief. This guide explains what sets the high end transportable homes NZ families are choosing from Exeter apart, how each Executive plan suits a different stage of family life, and whether the step up from our Essence range is worth it for you.

What Makes an Executive Home Different?

The Executive range is our premium collection of bespoke designs, expansive layouts and high end finishes. The difference starts on the outside. Bold cladding combinations and recessed facades move these homes well beyond the standard box form, giving them the kind of street presence you would expect from modern transportable house designs created to stand out rather than simply fit in.

Inside, the specification steps up again. Every Executive home is designed around:

  • Soaring high ceilings that give every room a greater sense of light and volume.
  • Master suites with designer ensuites and refined walk in wardrobe fit outs.
  • Premium kitchens with stone benchtops that are as durable as they are good looking.
  • Mitsubishi Electric ducted heating, cooling and ventilation for quiet, whole home climate control.
  • High end wool carpet for warmth and comfort underfoot.
  • Internal access garages on four of the five current plans.

You can browse the full collection of luxury transportable homes on our Exeter Executive page. If the design story is what interests you most, our article on architectural transportable homes explores it in more depth. This guide focuses on how the range works for families, day to day.

The Executive Plans, Matched to Family Life

There are currently five plans in the Executive range, from a two bedroom home with a garage through to a five bedroom family home.

Sharlene 2.0, From $475,000

Two bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, a 90 square metre house and a 36 square metre internal access garage. The Sharlene 2.0 suits couples, downsizers and professionals who want the full Executive finish without the floor area of a family home. The extra half bathroom means guests never need to walk through your bedroom.

Callum 2.0, From $449,000

Three bedrooms and two bathrooms across 132 square metres. The Callum 2.0 is the most accessible way into the Executive range for a young family, with generous living space and a second bathroom that keeps the morning routine moving.

Jane 2.0, From $590,000

Three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a 138 square metre house and a 46 square metre internal access garage, 184 square metres in total. The Jane 2.0 is ideal for families who do not need a fourth bedroom but want space, storage and a garage that works as a genuine extension of the home. You can compare it with our other layouts on the 3 bedroom designs page.

Ian 2.0, From $610,000

Four bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a 156 square metre house and a 46 square metre internal access garage. For many families, four bedrooms is the sweet spot, with room for the children plus a guest room or home office that can change role as the family grows. See how the Ian compares with our other family layouts on the 4 bedroom designs page.

Rob 2.0, From $630,000

Five bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a 167 square metre house and a 46 square metre internal access garage. The Rob 2.0 is our largest Executive plan, built for big families, teenagers who need their own space and multigenerational households. It sits alongside our other largest homes on the 5 and 6 bedroom designs page.

Essence or Executive: Is the Upgrade Worth It?

Four of the Executive plans share their names and listed floor areas with homes in our Essence range. The 2.0 version keeps the same proven layout and steps up the design, the finish and the comfort. Here is how the current prices compare.

Plan Essence version Executive 2.0 version Difference
Sharlene, 2 bedrooms $381,000 $475,000 $94,000
Jane, 3 bedrooms $505,000 $590,000 $85,000
Ian, 4 bedrooms $510,000 $610,000 $100,000
Rob, 5 bedrooms $525,000 $630,000 $105,000

So what does that difference buy? On the outside, it buys the bold claddings and recessed facades that give the Executive range its presence. Inside, it buys whole home ducted heating, cooling and ventilation in place of the heat pump or fireplace that comes with an Essence home, along with stone benchtops, designer walk in wardrobes and ensuites, soaring ceilings and premium wool carpet.

The upgrade tends to make the most sense for families who plan to stay for the long term, who value year round comfort in every room rather than just the living area, and who want a home that holds its own against high end homes built on site. If budget certainty is your main driver, the Exeter Essence range delivers the same layouts at a lower price, and Essence plans can still be modified to suit you.

Designed Around the Way Families Live

Specifications only matter if they make daily life easier, so here is what the key Executive features mean in practice.

An internal access garage. Groceries, school bags and sports gear come straight inside without a dash through the rain, and you gain secure storage for bikes, tools and everything else a busy household collects. If you are specifically looking for transportable homes with an internal garage, four of the five Executive plans include one.

Whole home climate control. Ducted heating, cooling and ventilation keeps every bedroom comfortable, not just the living room. It is quiet, it handles summer heat as well as winter cold, and it helps keep moisture under control.

Two and a half bathrooms. On the Jane 2.0, Ian 2.0 and Rob 2.0, the extra half bathroom takes the pressure off the morning rush and gives visitors a bathroom of their own.

A parents’ retreat. A master suite with its own designer ensuite and walk in wardrobe gives you a private space to switch off at the end of the day.

A kitchen built for real use. Stone benchtops stand up to school lunches, homework and entertaining, and still look the part years later.

These are the details that separate genuinely quality transportable homes from homes that simply look good in a brochure. Every Executive home is built to full NZ Building Code compliance by our own team in Rotorua, and as registered Master Builders we stand behind every home we build.

How Long Does an Executive Home Take?

It is worth being upfront here. Executive homes take longer than our standard Essentials and Essence builds, which typically take around 15 weeks from consent to delivery. The extra time goes into design, consents and the higher level of detail and finishing that a premium home involves.

Even so, the transportable approach still works in your favour. Your home is built in our Rotorua yard, where the work runs like a production line with no downtime between trades, while the site works on your land progress at the same time. We provide a clear schedule before your build begins, so you always know what to expect. You can see how every stage fits together on our process page.

Can You Personalise an Executive Home?

Yes. The Executive range offers the flexibility to adjust layouts, finishes and features, and for some families a fully custom design is the right path. Changes do add design time, so the earlier those conversations start, the more room you have in your timeline. If you are weighing it up, our guide to standard design versus custom build sets out the trade offs clearly.

Budgeting for an Executive Build

As with every Exeter home, the plan price covers the home built and finished in our yard. On top of that, allow for delivery, foundations and site works, service connections, consents and reports, and finishing touches such as decks, landscaping and window coverings. Larger homes with garages usually need more substantial foundations, so site costs tend to sit higher than they would for a compact home.

We provide a tailored, site specific price during the concept design stage, so you know your full project cost before you sign a fixed price building contract. You can compare every Executive design against our other ranges on our full range of plans.
