Exeter Homes is more than a business; it’s part of our love story.
We met because of a house on Exeter Place; a chance encounter neither of us expected. I wasn’t meant to be in Rotorua, just pausing here on my way back to work in Auckland. Chris wasn’t meant to be here either, having worked in Africa until a hunting injury temporarily brought him home.
An insightful family friend saw the possibilities and arranged a place for me to stay. What was meant to be flatmates became love at first sight. We fell in love because of a home on Exeter Place. We married in the garden of that same home, raised two beautiful children, and built a life together.
When it came time to create our next venture, there was only one name that felt right. Exeter isn’t just where our story began; it’s proof that sometimes a home, and life’s unexpected detours, lead you exactly where you’re meant to be.
We’ve been building transportable homes for over 10 years; we’re not new to the game, and we’re certainly not a fly-by-night company. As a family-owned business, you’ll work directly with both of us as the owners throughout your project, enjoying the personal connection and accountability that comes with it.
But Exeter Homes are not a “mum and dad” company. Unlike many builders who simply grow from the tools, we come from business, marketing and mining backgrounds, bringing strong business expertise, proven systems, and solid financial management. That means your project runs smoothly, transparently, and with the professionalism you’d expect from a large company.
It’s the best of both worlds; the care and commitment of a family business, combined with the structure and reliability of a corporate.
